Bandhani/Bandhej/Tie-Dye and Batik Printing for this holidays and festivals!!!

Tie- Dye is C'esta la mode

Bandhani has come from Sanskrit word Banda("to tie). This technique involves folding the material into a pattern, and binding it with string or rubber bands. Dye is then applied to only part of the material. The ties prevent the entire material from being dyed. Designs are formed by applying different colors of dyes to different sections of the wet fabric. Wet is much easier than the dried ones.

This is also called Tie-Dye or Bhandej or Bandhani. This can be applied on different materials like cotton, silk, Georgett, Chiffon and many more. The rich textures like Silk and Georgett, Chiffon welcomes this festival season. These days they have come in many fashions like Sarees, Kurtis/Tops, western tops, dresses.

Similar to Tie-Dying is Batik printing but the technique used is different and very  simple. Instead of tying the cloth , parts of the cloth is covered with wax and dyed.
